The story of sisters Lillian and Grace who open an orphanage within the 1916 Western city of Brookfield. Caught between the traditions of cattle ranchers and the ambitions of a rising city, they try to search out romance and happiness whereas overcoming the challenges of serving to the youngsters of their care.
